How I Can Help You
In addition to providing therapy and supervision services, I have presented at state and national conferences on many topics, including adolescence, ADHD, parenting, supervision, group therapy, and couple therapy.
My approach to therapy is grounded in the belief that we are each trying to do our best (given our genetics, family training, and current circumstances). However, we tend to get stuck in certain emotional patterns, thought patterns, and behavioral patterns. In order to help with this “stuckness,” As a clinical psychologist, I utilize a combination of evidence-based treatments: Humanistic Therapies (EFT, MI and SFBT), Relational Therapies (IPT and Gottman), Cognitive Therapies (CBT, DBT, ACT), as well as new insights from Interpersonal Neurobiology and Mindfulness. All of this occurs within a safe, trusting relationship that we will build over time.
Since 2005 I have had the privilege of teaching, supervising, and training doctoral students at Spalding University School of Professional Psychology. I love this work, as the students, faculty, and new research keep me updated on current developments in the field.
It is my goal to assist each individual/couple/family to build on their strengths and to reduce & accept their limitations, in order to become healthier and happier. How you define and translate this into specific goals will be up to you—though I certainly will help.
Finally, I am married and we have “furry kids.” When I am not working, teaching, I am likely either golfing or dreaming of golfing.
